Kids Ride Shotgun Content Brief
Welcome, and thanks for being part of our creator program. Whether you’re riding trails with your toddler or capturing first balance bike moments, we’re stoked to have you involved.
This guide outlines how the program works and what we need from you to help us create amazing content for our paid media campaigns.
1. Overview
You’re creating content that may be used in Kids Ride Shotgun’s paid media channels (e.g. Instagram and Facebook ads). These ads help us spread the word to new MTB families around the world and get more kids out there loving mountain biking.
2. What You’re Creating
We’ll send you a content brief which outlines a broad ‘theme’ or ‘message’ we’d like you to focus on – but outside of that we’d love to see your individual style and personality come through.
Speak to what feels authentic to you and your experience with the product.
We’re asking for:
1. 1x short-form, ad-ready video (9:16 portrait format)
- Final output: 6 seconds to 19 seconds max
- Format: vertical, portrait, ad-style
2. Raw footage used to create the video
- This includes all primary clips
- Any audio recordings (voiceover or talk to camera)
Important Notes:
Music:
- Please do not add rights-restricted music or overlays (e.g. trending TikTok sounds)
- Facebook music library is a safe option for rights-free music
- Do not include watermarks or in-app editing effects (Reels, CapCut, etc.)
- Keep things natural & authentic, not sales-y or forced
Formatting best practises:
- Use natural lighting. Well-lit clips work best
- Use diversity of footage. Wide, medium & close up shots
- Be aware of ‘safe zones’.
Avoid placing key copy, faces, or logos in the top and bottom 15% of the screen
(This avoids overlap with platform UI — captions, usernames, buttons)
3. Content Dos and Don’ts
✅ Please include:
- Helmet on parent & child plus closed-toe shoes on your child
- Mountain bikes only (front suspension required). Please no Walmart/dept store bikes.
- Real riding moments — playful, emotional, fun
- Please refer to the brand as ‘Kids RIde Shotgun’ (not ‘shotgun’ or ‘kids ride’ etc)
❌ Please avoid:
- Advanced trails, stunts or unsafe riding
- Riding without proper safety gear
- Using emoji’s to cover your child's face. We want to see the emotion and joy that comes from riding together, and faces are important for that. If we’ve agreed you won’t show your kids face, please enable this with creative filming rather than adding effects.
4. How to Upload Your Content
Please upload your content to this Google Drive folder – or you can send it to us using Dropbox / WeTransfer if needed.
Please:
Name all your files
- with your name
- adding either ‘ad-ready’ or ‘raw’ to your clip names.
E.g. Hugh Thomas_Ad-ready or Hugh Thomas_Raw
Upload both your ad-ready edit and raw clips
5. Timeline
We ask that content is delivered within 3 weeks of receiving your product.
If you need more time or run into any issues, please let us know.
6. Usage Rights
By submitting your content, you agree that Kids Ride Shotgun can use it:
- Across organic and paid platforms (e.g. META ads, organic social, website)
- 3 years from date of receiving content
- Globally
We may trim, subtitle, or re-edit your content for advertising use, but we’ll always respect your intent.
7. Partnership Ads
If you plan to post your content organically, let us know — we’d love to run it as a partnership ad.
What that means:
- We’ll put paid media spend behind your post so it reaches more families
- It will be shown from your handle, but managed from our Meta ad account
To do this, you’ll need to:
- Be on a Creator or Business account
- Send us a partnership ad request in Meta Business Suite
If you’re interested in doing this please let us know and we can look into getting it set up.
